Animation for Salmon Arm (Wildcard)

In September i started an internship for the counsel of the Secwepemc to do some animation and i was really thrilled to help even though i had only little experience in that field. In December 2024 i spent new years figuring out my assets and getting some practice in i was used to blender but the assets seemed to be coming in Adobe Photoshop and my professor who was going to help the dean of visual arts also recommended adobe as the environment to work in. At first i found it complicated but i have grown to love Adobe Animate.

What was learnt

  • How to work with files, i got Raster files and this are great for illustration but not animation. So i worked in Illustrator to turn them into vector files, these could be freely transformed and played with. This involves a lot of steps as its the foundation of animation.
  • How to properly import files to make the layers that you can work with, and add parental properties to those layers.
  • How to rig a character in this case i used bones and how to rig the characters with these bones and if i moved the bones the part of body would respond depending on the parental controls.
  • How to finally animate and play around with the tools available to me in the environment.

Below i have attached some screengrabs of the animation process, and below that i will attach the finished examples.
